Carol (Susie). Leopold, 86, of Wichita, Kansas, and previously of Auxvasse, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Family Health and Rehabilitation in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on December 29, 1939, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Floyd McDermit and the late Cordial (Coons) McDermit. She was united in marriage to Larry Gene Leopold on May 31, 1959. Suzie was very active in the lives of her sons, never missing their sporting events. Following their graduation, he continued to follow North Callaway Sports. She had great pleasure in simply spending time with her grandchildren. She could not resist hugging her grandchildren and everyone she came in contact with. One of her granddaughters' husbands referred to her as the "HUGGY Grandma". Susie lived all but the last 8 years of her life in Auxvasse. She was a housewife in the early years of her marriage. Her working career started at a Dunavants Drug Store in Auxvasse, Missouri then finished her working years at A&B Drugs in Mexico, Missouri. Susie was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Auxvasse. Those left to cherish her memory include his son, Larry T. Leopold (Kim) of Wichita, Kan. Daughter-in-law Mary Leopold of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, sister-in-law Mary Rose Mock of Mexico; grandchildren, Andrew Leopold (Jamie), Caitlin Knaup (Courtney), Tanner Leopold,(Caitlin), Matthew Leopold, Benjamin(Sam) Leopold, Jacob Leopold, Nicholas Leopold, and Annie Leopold; and great-grandchildren, Sienna and Emmett Leopold, Carter Knaup, and Lawrence Leopold. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry G. Leopold; son, Gary W. Leopold; brothers Bob, Don, and Jerry McDermit, and Brother-in-law Jerry Leopold.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Auxvasse Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jim Graham officiating.
