Celinda Ann "Cindy" Piper, 83, was born on November 10, 1942, in Emporia, Kansas, to Lois and Grover Piper. She went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; her younger brother, David Grover; and her brother-in-law, Donald Wilson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Suzie Piper; grandchildren Brad (Kelsey), Jon (Kylie), and Lindley (Bill); great-grandchildren Miles and Ashton; her sister Beth Wilson; nieces and nephews Jacque (John) Fox and Patty (Corey) Williams; and great-nieces and great-nephew Kristin and Michael Fox, and Spenser Williams —all of whom were blessed by her love, encouragement, and steady presence.

Cindy was proud of her roots and her education, graduating from Emporia High School in 1960 and the College of Emporia in 1966. She spent many years working as an offset press operator, serving Emporia State University, Wichita State University, and Goddard USD 265. She took pride in her work and the people she worked alongside.

Faith and music were two of Cindy's greatest joys. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, sang with the Wichita Choral Society, and lifted her voice for many years in the Central Community Church Choir. Music was a gift she shared freely and joyfully.

Cindy had a special place in her heart for "her kids." From being a devoted band mom for the WSU Shocker Marching Band to a beloved band mom and grandma for the Goddard High School Lion Pride Marching Band, she supported countless young people with pride, encouragement, and unconditional love. Many who knew her considered her family.

Her church family at Cross Road Church meant everything to her. Cindy's faith was steady and strong, and she lived it quietly and faithfully every day. As Christmas approached, she was ready when the Lord called her home.

During her final six months, Cindy lived at Ascension Via Christi Assisted Living on Ridge Road. In that short time, she quickly made new friends and became deeply fond of both the staff and residents. She was working on a daily Advent puzzle as a Christmas gift for her new family there. When Cindy was called home, fellow residents lovingly took up the task, completing her Advent gift in time for Christmas as a tribute to her memory.

Cindy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the music she loved, and the faith she shared.

A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cross Road Church, 2139 S. Maize Rd, Wichita, KS.  Visitation with family will be held immediately following the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, Cindy requested monetary gifts to Cross Road Church in her memory.
