Charles was born on March 3, 1934, in Wichita to Mary and Roy McCoy. He was the second of 7 children, his siblings were Mac (deceased), Howard, Lynda (deceased), Glenn, David (deceased), and Carole Ann. He grew up in Wichita and graduated from North High School. He joined the United States Army. In July of 1957 he married Faye I. Dotson, and they were married for 64 years until her passing in February 2022.

He is survived by his children Sue Moore (Bernie Moore), and Eddie McCoy (Rhonda McCoy), 4 grandsons Eric Moore (Katie Moore), Jeremy Moore, Shawn Pike, Beau McCoy (Jessica McCoy), 3 great-grandchildren Jaxson, Michael, and Elizabeth, and siblings Glenn, Carole Ann and Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 of his siblings, his wife Faye, and a grandson Tyler Pike.

Charles and his wife Faye were owners of Deluxe Lanes in Wichita. They managed the business for many years. Charles worked on the pinsetters and at the front desk. He enjoyed talking and laughing with their customers. He was a good bowler, and one of his proudest accomplishments was winning the Kansas State Bowling tournament 2 years in a row with the Redford Construction team.

He covered and moved pool tables in the Wichita area for many years with his son Eddie and grandson Eric. He finished his working career with SFB Plastics as a forklift driver.

He also enjoyed fishing. He and Faye would often drive out to Cheney Lake after Deluxe Lanes closed for the night and fish until dawn. Fishing was still a passion, right up to the end, and on October 12, 2025, he caught a 2-pound 8-ounce catfish. Charles loved to look for treasures at garage sales, play Gin Rummy, and watch football, baseball, and basketball on TV.

He was a fighter right up till the end of his life. He continued to be curious about the world, and to work to improve his health and strength. He never gave up. He will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors at Maple Gardens Village apartments.
