Curtis James Atterbury, aged 60, of Wichita, KS, passed away on November 1, 2024. Born on November 4, 1963, Curtis was known for his larger-than-life personality, his unique ability to find humor in every situation, and his sarcastic wit.

Curtis's early years were spent learning the ropes of the carnival business, a family enterprise that imbued him with a strong sense of dedication and hard work. After graduating from Campus High School, while still maintaining the carnival business, he decided to further his education at Friends University, where he transitioned into the healthcare sector. Curtis's career evolved from working as a Physician Assistant to a Pharmaceutical Representative, as well as starting and managing various businesses, showcasing his desire for entrepreneurship along the way.

An avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, Curtis's loyalty never wavered, even when the team was not doing well (which was for a very long time). His love for gathering with family was paralleled only by his passion for visiting tropical destinations, with the Caribbean, Cayman Islands, Belize, and the Bahamas being some of his favorite spots.

Curtis is survived by his children and their spouses, Dusty and Leanna Atterbury, Jennifer and Ryan Cotton, and Samantha and Jesse Steele; their mother Jerilyn Atterbury; his grandchildren, Aria, London, Kale, Layanna, and Kash; and his siblings and their spouses, Pat and Myron Hatcher, and Linda and Steve Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Ellen Atterbury, and his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Nancy Atterbury.

Curtis's life was a vivid tapestry of professional achievement, familial love, and a ceaseless zest for adventure. His legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory of laughter, sarcasm, and love lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.
