Dale Lewin Guthrie, at the age of 97 and a half years old, passed from this life on August 22, 2026.

Dale was born on February 11, 1929, in Valley Center, Kansas to Lewin Guthrie and Alice Stauffer Guthrie.

He was a 1950 graduate of Wichita University with a Bachelor of Finance degree. During college Dale was in the ROTC program and entered the Air Force as an officer. He was the last surviving founding member of the Valley Center Lions Club.

Dale married Arlene Lansdown on March 31, 1950. Together they raised two sons, Neil and Alan. Dale retired from Arkansas Valley State Bank and continued after retirement to work for JP Weigand Real Estate.

Dale and Arlene’s marriage lasted 73 years, until her passing in 2023. He loved fishing and helping build anything his kids and grandkids could dream up.

Dale had fond memories of trips to Colorado with his parents and grandparents as a child. Colorado remained his favorite vacation spot which allowed him to fish any time he wanted.

Preceded in death by wife Arlene, his parents, and great granddaughter, Collins. Dale is survived by sons, Neil (DeAnn), Alan (Denice); grandchildren, Ashley Huynh (Tien), Garret (Kendall), Colby (Missy), Dylan (Morgan), and Emily; and great grandchildren, Harlow, Gracyn, Lawson, Memphis, and Hensley; sisters Charlotte Laughlin and Nancy Copeland.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas. Everyone is invited to visit with family and friends to celebrate Dale’s life at a luncheon at 12:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church 560 N. Park, Valley Center, Kansas 67147.
