David Louis Racette MD, was born March 23, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas and passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025 at Via Christi/Saint Francis hospital surrounded by loved ones. His parents were Nancy Dye Racette RN and Richard Racette DDS, both of Wichita. David is survived by his three siblings, Dyeanne Racette MD, Beth Racette MFA, and Paul Racette DSc, as well as his three children, Renée Racette PhD, Matthew Racette, and Robby Racette.

Throughout his life, David was fascinated by how things work, including the human body and other complex systems. He worked as a surgeon with specializations in emergency medicine and cancer treatment. Dr. Dave, as he was known by many, had a strong and compassionate bedside manner, helping patients understand their condition and holding their hands through their treatment, both literally and figuratively. He loved tinkering: with computers, with solar panels, with cars, and many other gadgets and gizmos. Dave was also a lover of animals and had special companion dogs throughout his life who shared in his many adventures across the U.S. and Mexico. For fun throughout his life and into his retirement, Dave shared his love of music with everyone he could: singing, playing guitar, harmonica, and piano.
