Debra K. Welch (Leatherman) age 69 passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 in Wichita, KS. She was born on June 25, 1955 to Merle Malcom Leatherman and Marie Matilda (Koelsch) Leatherman in St John, KS.

Debbi was beloved by her whole family—immediate and extended. She had a vivacious sense of humor, and a gift for listening with compassion and care. Debbi was a seeker of beauty, adorning her home and garden with decorative glassware, fairies, and whimsy. She also loved live music in all its forms—from the kids' school performances to the rock concerts of her favorite artists, she could be seen cheering in the stands! In more recent years, though faced with many health struggles, she remained steadfast and resilient.

Her passing was unexpected, and the loss is deeply felt.

We will miss her beautiful laugh and amazing hugs, and the way she made everyone feel seen and loved. We will honor her memory by carrying forward the love and light that she gave so fiercely to all of us.

Survived by her husband of over 51 years, Mike Welch; Three children: Amber Welch (Riley) of Wichita, Rachel Welch (James) of Derby and Melody Welch (Josh) of Wichita; Ten grandchildren: Jaida, Makaila, Naielle, Jordyn, Ivy, Makayla, Lila, Jayde, Katerina, and Eli; Six great-grandchildren: Addison, Ella, Adelina, Iora, Hazel, Carter, and Vera.
Preceded in death by her parents Merle Malcom and Marie (née Koelsch) Leatherman, her two brothers Merle Dean and Billy Joe, and her great grandson Iorek.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2025 at Baker Funeral Home West 3224 N. Tyler Rd. Wichita, KS.
