Dennis William Abshier, lovingly known by many as "Bear," passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on November 22, 1950, in Ocala, Florida, Dennis spent much of his younger years in southeast Louisiana before making his home for the past 20-plus years in Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Abshier; his father, Earl Abshier Sr; his brother, Earl "Skip" Abshier Jr.; and his brother, Michael Abshier.

Dennis is survived by his son, Jared Abshier-Ramirez (Brandon); his daughter, Kelley Abshier; and his beloved doggie kids, Bear and London, who brought him constant companionship and joy.

Dennis dedicated more than 40 years to the convenience store industry, building a respected career in marketing. He was known for his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and the relationships he built along the way.

Outside of work, Dennis truly lived life to the fullest. He loved catching live music — especially rock and roll and blues — feeling every note as he always said, "Music is not to hear, it's to feel." He enjoyed watching drag racing, spending time working in his yard, and cooking for whoever happened to walk through the door. His home was always open, and no one ever left hungry.

Bear's spirit was larger than life. He believed in enjoying the moment, turning up the music, and embracing the people around him. His warmth, humor, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 3224 N. Tyler Rd., Wichita, KS 67205.

Dennis's legacy lives on in the music he loved the meals he shared, and the lives he touched.
