Eugene Dale “Gene” Schellenberg, 79, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Wichita, KS. He was born on August 25, 1946, to Orville and Rosella Schellenberg in Sutherland, NE.

Gene is survived by his sons, Troy Hedgecock and Jason Schellenberg; grandchildren: Dan Hedgecock, Jordan Hedgecock, Eli Hedgecock, Ericka Schellenberg; siblings: Darlene (Bob) Loewen, Barb (Marv) Harms, Marv (Andrea) Schellenberg, and LaVon (Randy) Friesen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was an entrepreneur throughout his life; his most recent business being the development and ownership of Kansas Natural Stone. He enjoyed cars, boating, fishing, motorcycles, ATVs, landscaping, gardening, traveling, cabins by the lake, family, and his dog Pouchie.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, at Ridgepoint Church, 8000 W. 21st Street, Wichita, KS; lunch reception following service. The interment service will be held at 9:00 a.m. at Maize Park Cemetery, 12733 W. 53rd St., North, Maize, KS.
