Obituary

Today, we gather to honor the remarkable life of Gary Waller, a man whose journey began on February 24, 1946 and ended July 21, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas. Born to Virgil and Katherine Waller, Gary's life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

In 1978, Gary embarked on a path that would define his career—a journey that started as an apprentice electrician and culminated in him becoming a Master Electrician. His expertise and passion for his craft were unparalleled, and he took great pride in mastering every challenge the electrical field presented, often prevailing in debates over the intricate details of the electrical code.

On August 5th, 1976, Gary married Brenda Waller at the Wichita State University Chapel—a union that brought him deep happiness and steadfast companionship throughout his life. Together, they built a loving family, raising their children with love and the values that defined Gary's character.

Gary faced his share of challenges, yet through it all, he remained a pillar of strength and resilience. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Katherine, and his beloved sons Gary Lee and Jeremy. He is survived by his cherished children, son Leslie (Ginnie) and daughter Prayla, sister Malinda Golden (Roger) and brother Keith Waller (Connie), along with his 14 loving grandchildren.

Those who knew Gary remember him as a man of few words but immense integrity. He lived by the principles of honesty and truthfulness, instilling these values deeply into his family. His steadfast belief in the consequences of dishonesty was often shared with his characteristic emphasis on the "lake that burneth with fire."

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary touched the lives of many through his dedicated service to both his community and his church. He found joy in helping others, whether through his work or his volunteer efforts, always embodying the spirit of giving.

Gary's life was marked by simple pleasures—a well-mowed lawn and the quiet moments spent on his riding mower, sipping coffee in the summer sun. He lived by his motto, reminding his family endlessly that "there is no such thing as a free sandwich," a testament to his practical wisdom and humor.

Today, as we bid farewell to Gary Waller, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, kindness, and unwavering devotion. His legacy will continue to inspire us all. May his memory be a blessing and may we carry forward his values of hard work, honesty, and love.

Gary, rest peacefully in the eternal light, knowing you have left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew you.
