Obituary

Ian Hunter was born on April 23, 1987, to Randy and Christy Hunter. He arrived nine weeks early, weighing just 2 pounds, 11 ounces, and spent two months in the neonatal intensive care unit. From a young age, Ian was a quiet and thoughtful person, known for his reserved nature and sharp intellect. Ian graduated from Goddard High School in 2005, where he was an active member of the marching band and played the trumpet. He went on to attend Hutchinson Community College and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Western Governors University. For the past 11 years, he worked as an IT manager at Account Recovery Specialists, Inc.

Ian had a wide range of interests. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and video games. He also had a deep love of languages — studying both Mandarin Chinese and Thai. His passion for language and culture led him to briefly live in China, where he taught English as a Second Language. A devoted fan of guitarist Joe Satriani, Ian attended several of his concerts over the years. Ian also deeply loved his dog, Toby, who was his constant companion.

Ian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Betty and James Hunter, and his maternal grandparents, Helen and Fred Winters. He is survived by his mother, Christy Hunter (Winters); his father, Randy Hunter; and his sister, Sabrina Hunter.
