Jimmy Karrer

James "Jimmy" Isaiah Karrer, 23, Wichita, passed away on March 8, 2025, surrounded by friends and family, after a long and courageous battle from PSC, an auto immune disease.

He was born January 16, 2002, in Maplewood, Minnesota to Lindsay Buckmiller and adopted by his loving parents, James Karrer and Joan (Rippe) Karrer.   He graduated from Maize South High School in 2020.  Here in Wichita, he played travel hockey with the Wichita Warriors and Wichita Jr. Thunder as a child through high school, where he was a defenseman.  His high school travel hockey team was the first team from Kansas to compete at the USA Hockey National Tournament in 2018.  Jimmy was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop736.  He achieved his Eagle Scout rank, completed work for an outdoor classroom as his Eagle project at KANSEL, was a member of the Order of the Arrow, served as a Den Chief where he mentored younger scouts and earned his Arrow of Light as a Webelo.

In more recent years, when not in the hospital, Jimmy was an engineering entrepreneur who specialized in building computers.  He also was skilled at working on automobiles for friends and family.

Jimmy enjoyed gaming, Legos, fishing, and cars.  He loved taking vacations with family to Lake Lida Minnesota and the Colorado Rockies.  Jimmy will be remembered for his irresistible smile, his willingness to help others and his kind, gentle soul.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents Jim and Joan Karrer; birth mother, Lindsay Buckmiller who he had a continued relationship with throughout his life; paternal grandfather James Stewart Karrer; as well as many caring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, James Andrew; grandparents, Melvin and Adeline Rippe; grandmother, Jan Karrer, and birth grandmother, Laurene Buckmiller.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Pathway Church Westlink, 2001 N Maize Rd, Wichita, KS  67212. The visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
