James Marlin Zenger Jr., age 61, of Derby, Kansas, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on May 21, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.

Jim was born February 7, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, to James Marlin Zenger Sr. and Velma Becker Zenger. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. Known affectionately as a husband, Dad, Pops, Brother, Uncle, Pastor, and Friend, he devoted his life to following Jesus, caring for those around him, and showing compassion to everyone he met.

Jim attended Christian Challenge in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Lone Grove High School in Lone Grove, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor's in Theology from Advantage College, Master's in Ministry from Southwestern Christian University, and Doctorate of Ministry ABD from Oral Robert's University.

Jim was licensed with the IPHC in the year 1985 and Ordained in 1988. He faithfully served as a pastor, dedicating his life and ministry to guiding others with wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith. Through his ministry, he touched countless lives and became a source of strength, encouragement, and comfort to his congregation, family, and community. Even during his illness, he led people to Christ.

Jim treasured his family. He was known for his mischievous sense of humor, generous heart, steady presence, and the love he showed so freely. Whether offering guidance, sharing laughter, or simply being present, he made people feel welcomed and valued.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Velma Zenger; his sisters Betty Hardesty and Janet Hooks; and brother-in-laws Wallace Hooks and Don Lauzet.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Stephens Zenger; his sons, James and wife Amber Zenger, Justin and wife Carla Zenger; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Ramage, Levi Zenger, and Emma Zenger; his great-grandson, Nathaniel Rico; his sisters, Sharon Lauzet,  Helen McDowell and husband Lee McDowell, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and members of the community whose lives he touched throughout his ministry.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue through the many lives he influenced throughout his lifetime.

Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
