Janet Elaine Miller was born November 6th, 1956 in El Dorado Kansas to Bob and Venita Miller. She passed away Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at 68 in Wichita, Ks. Jan graduated from Augusta High School in 1974. She attended Kansas University and later graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in child development. She married W Steven Jones on March 10th, 1979. They moved to Las Angeles California shortly after to put her degree to work, managing a home for abused and neglected youth. They later relocated back home to Kansas, where Jan began work in banking and insurance.

Jan was outgoing and personable; she didn't know a stranger. She was also passionate about many things, which could often mean bullheadedness. She enjoyed road trips, tending her garden, and creating many sewing and crafting projects. Among friends and family, she was known for her green thumb and would gladly share her wealth of knowledge with anyone that would ask. Jan volunteered her time and talents to Girl Scouts of America, acting as a troop leader for many years. In retirement made deliveries for Meals on Wheels. She dedicated much time and love to her two grandchildren, whom she adored.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Venita Miller (Augusta, Ks). She is survived by her husband Steve Jones (Wichita, Ks), Daughter Emily Jones (Andover, Ks), and grandchildren Griffin Forsberg and Felix Forsberg (Andover, Ks). She is survived by brother Greg (Cathy) Miller, as well as niece Jody (Jeff) Roberts and nephew Mason (Amanda) Miller, all residing in Texas.

A private memorial service is planned for her at a later date. In place of flowers, donations are requested in her honor to the Wichita Public Library or Meals on Wheels.
