Celebration Of Life for – Judith (Judy) Brooks Giesen

Judith "Judy" I. Giesen, age 87, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on November 27, 2025. She passed peacefully at her daughter Brenda's home, surrounded by family. Judy was born on May 14, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, to Frank Clifford Anselene and Evelyn (Johnson) Anselene.

Judy married Carroll "Dean" Brooks on September 5, 1956. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children: Cheryl (Chuck) McDowell, Debra (David) Botkin, Brenda (Mike) Gresham, and Todd (Jenny) Brooks. Judy was a cherished grandmother to Chris (Paula) Moyer, Justin (Jessica) Moyer, Cody (Stephanie) Wiggins, Trista Gresham, Jared (Kelli) Gresham, Mandy (Alex) Brooks, and Tyler Brooks. She was also an affectionate great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was also a faithful stepmother to James R. Giesen, Edward D. (Kimberly) Giesen, and step-grandmother to Nicolai and Canaan Giesen.

Judy was a faithful and active member of Central Community Church and will be remembered for her deep love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She openly shared her fun-loving sense of humor and gentle, Christ-centered way with everyone around her. Judy attended Arma High School in Arma, Kansas, for three years and graduated from Decatur High School in Decatur, Georgia, in 1956. She was a majorette and baton twirler at Arma High School, as well as a pitcher for a girls' softball league. Judy was also a member of the Eastern Star from 1958 to 2006

After marrying, Judy devoted her life to being a homemaker. She later became active as a preschool and Sunday school teacher, and in her later years became a cosmetologist. Judy's greatest gift was her big heart—she cared for many of her grandchildren over the years and served as a caregiver for both of her parents when they were no longer able to care for themselves. Judy is survived by her husband of seven years Robert (Bob) Giesen, her sister Shirley Hooten, her children, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her stepchildren and step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Carroll "Dean" Brooks; her father, Frank C. Anselene; her mother, Evelyn B. Anselene; her sisters Peggy Cash, Kay Greer, and Cindy Baugher, and her great-grandson, Archer Wiggins.

Judy's Celebration of Life will be held on November 11, 2025, at Central Community Church, located at 6100 W Maple St, Wichita, KS 67209.
