Obituary

Kenneth Waegener was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 8, 1934. His parents were Carl H. and Dolly Waegener. They moved from Kansas City to Paola, Kansas, for a brief period and then moved to Wichita, Kansas. Kenneth attended elementary and middle school in Paola and then attended East High School in Wichita, Kansas.

Kenneth attended John Brown University and completed his college degree at Friends University. At Friends University, he competed in tennis and basketball – excelling in both.

Kenneth married Nita (Farris) in June of 1956. Nita passed on March 5, 2026. Kenneth served our country in the National Guard. Kenneth and Nita were founding members of the Metropolitan Baptist Church and attended
Sunday school and church services there. Kenneth was employed for the majority of his career at Emprise Bank and retired as vice president of commercial loans.

Kenneth was an avid bowler and bowled into his 90's. Bowling was a passion for him, and he made many lifelong friends because of it. Kenneth was also an animal lover and supported many animal groups and causes. Kenneth is survived by son Richard, daughter Karla, grandchildren - Mitchell – Amber - Jessica, great-grandchildren - Easton – Jailey – Briggs – Emery – Eleanora – Wren – Madilynn – Emilia. He was a very good man who will be missed terribly by his family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Funeral Home West 3224 N. Tyler Rd. Wichita, KS. with the burial at White Chapel to follow.
