Lori Dean
Carroll-Auten
Jul 29, 1959 — Jun 30, 2025
Wichita
Lori D. Carroll-Auten, age 65, of Wichita KS passed away June 30th, 2025, with family by her side. Born in Wichita on July 29th, 1959. Lori was the third of four children to her late parents Raymond Jack and Lois Dean Hooper.
She is survived by her son, Michael Carroll; her siblings, Ola Knight, William (Debbie) Hooper, and Martin (Anita) Hooper; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Lori was a Customer Care and International Research Group Agent for the United States Postal Service. She was known for her attention to the finer details and her calm and reassuring kindness towards her customers. She was always interested in finding countries she hadn't heard of before on the map and learning a bit about them.
Lori was a loving mother who always stood beside her son and took great pride in him. She made a point of not only telling him, but also, all of her caregivers and anyone else who would listen. Even if it meant embarrassing him.
She always sought to make him smile and cheer him up when he had a bad day; often by doing something silly such as a doorway can-can dance. One of the things she loved to do was try new restaurants and when she received outstanding service she would ask to speak to the manager. Not to criticize, as one might expect, but rather to praise the server and tell them how pleased she was with them. It was important to her that management heard the positives of their staff when they usually only hear the negative.
She also liked to have fun with people. She would joke around and give them a hard time, and then, use her favorite line: "I'm just pestering you." Often with a cheesy smile. Lori loved her coffee, enjoyed playing free online slots and watching her favorite television shows including the Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Everybody Loves Raymond and Naked and Afraid. She also loved to fall asleep during thunderstorms.
Lori will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
"I Love You. Always & Forever"
In Lieu of services the family will hold a private gathering in Lori's honor at a later date.
