Mary Patricia
Segraves
May 29, 1939 — Feb 26, 2025
Wichita
Pat Segraves, age 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 26, 2025.
Pat was born on May 29, 1939 to Dick and Pauline (Brumbles) Johnson in Mullins, SC. She graduated from Mullins High School in 1957.
After graduating, she worked for A & P Grocery. Two years later, she moved to Wichita, KS and worked for Paul's IGA Store. It is there where she met her future husband, Dale. They were married on February 14, 1961 in Haysville, KS. Together they had three sons: Stewart, Jimmy and Andy. In 2002, she retired from Leeker's Grocery Store in Valley Center, KS.
In 1988, Pat accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a revival and was baptized at Greenwich Methodist Church. She then became a member of the Furley United Methodist Church where she served on many committees. Pat prayed and shared the gospel with her family and others. She was strong in her faith—such a shining light. Pat enjoyed making food for all the church events, especially the Furley community luncheon. She also enjoyed working and maintaining the flowers around the church.
Some of Pat's hobbies include riding mules, when she was young, and horses. Over the years, she competed in many horse competitions. Pat had a great love for animals, flowers, and nature. She also loved attending her sons and grandsons sporting and school events. Pat adored her family and always put others before herself. She was a very kind and generous soul who will be greatly missed.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jimmie Johnson, and sisters Betty Cribbs and Ann Cribbs. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale David Segraves; sons Stewart (Sheree) Segraves of Wichita, KS; Jimmy Segraves of Wichita, Andy (Jody) Segraves of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Rex, Steven, Matt, Cole and Dylan and two great grandchildren; brother Aubrey Johnson of Orangeburg, SC, and sisters Faye Lewis and Barbara Strickland of Mullins, SC.
The service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025 at Furley United Methodist Church, 11400 E. 101st N. Valley Center Ks 67147. Graveside services will follow at the Green Valley Cemetery, 14500 E. 109th N. Valley Center, Kansas. There will be a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 2 at The Furley United Methodist Church.
A memorial has been established with The Furley United Methodist Church in care of Baker Funeral Home, 3224 N. Tyler Rd, Wichita, KS, 67205.
