Norma Lee Newark Carlson, 79, of Henrys Mills, Pennsylvania, went to be with her late husband and the Lord on April 13, 2025. She was born on April 23, 1945, to Norman and Myrtle Barr Newark.

After graduating from Sheffield High School in 1963, Norma worked for several years at the New Process facility in Warren, Pennsylvania. She later met and married Carl William Carlson of Kane, Pennsylvania, on June 13, 1970. Together, they moved to Kansas to begin life's next adventure. Their children, Molly and Eric, soon followed, and the family settled in Pratt, Kansas.

For nearly 30 years, Norma served as the business manager of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Kansas retiring in October 2013. Known for her sharp wit and warm heart, she was always a welcome site for church visitors. She was also an avid traveler who especially loved visiting her daughter overseas and exploring countries such as Italy, France, Austria, and Germany. Above all, Norma cherished her family. Not only did she sacrifice and love her children, but she also welcomed their friends as part of her extended family. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's plays, recitals, sporting events or challenging them to a game of dominos. Despite moving to Kansas, Norma remained a faithful fan of her Pennsylvania roots, particularly her Pittsburgh Steelers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Norman and Myrtle Newark; and her brother, Fred Newark of Tiona, Pennsylvania.

Norma is survived by her children, Molly (Robert) Dunaway of Mulvane, Kansas, and Eric (Neeley) Carlson of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Aleigh (Zachary) Strickland, Erica Dunaway, Austin Carlson, and Sydney Carlson; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.

Norma's family will lay her to rest next to Carl in Kane, Pennsylvania, in late June. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, Kansas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
