Obituary

Robert "Bob"  A. Davidson was born August 3rd, 1957, to Robert W. and Bertha (Taylor) Davidson in Hollis, New York. Bob and his family lived in Levittown on Long Island until he was 7 years old when his family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas. After moving to Kansas, his family attended Bethany Nazarene Church. He was baptized as a youth, and held a strong faith throughout his life.

He attended Obee Grade School through 8th grade, then graduated from Buhler High School in 1975. After high school, he attended Mid America Nazarene University for 2 years. After returning from college, Bob worked for Dillons full time. In 1984, he began his career with the United States Postal Service as a night shift clerk where he later transitioned into a letter carrier. Bob retired from the USPS on November 29th, 2014, after a 30 year career. During his career, he was heavily involved in the NALC Union. Bob was a lifetime union member, a union steward and held a state position. After retirement, he started a career as a postal uniform salesman until the Lord peacefully took him home on July 8th, 2026.

Bob received a special blessing when he adopted Julia (Davidson) Caraway in 1985, when she was 3 years old. Julia was Bob's shadow throughout her childhood, as they were very close. He met Becky Nachtigal on a blind date in February, 1991. They were married on October 12th, 1991, in Athletic Park in Newton, Kansas. They shared over 34 years of life together. Bob and Becky became members of St. Luke Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 1997 where he remained a member. He served as a trustee and held the title of Elder until his passing. Bob had a lot of passions which included singing, sports, golfing, umpiring and playing softball. Bob had his own softball team for several years. He was heavily involved in fantasy sports. He also enjoyed listening to his favorite southern gospel group the Gaither Vocal Band. Bob and Becky were able to attend a Gaither concert in Dodge City, with two close friends.

Bob was an extremely social person who never knew a stranger. He always had a story or a joke to tell. One of his biggest joys in life was when he received the title "Grandpa" (Gpa). Bob had two grandchildren, Serenity Davidson who was born in 2001, and Ethan McVey who was born in 2002. His joy was extended when he became a great grandfather to Grayson, Wesley and Lachlan.

He was preceded in death by; his parents Robert and Bertha Davidson; sister Lorraine Johnson; and nephew Jeremy Davidson.

He is survived by; his wife Becky Davidson; daughter Julia (Jeremy) Caraway; granddaughter Serenity Davidson; grandson Ethan McVey; great grandsons Grayson, Wesley, and Lachlan McVey; brother Steve (Bev Hinson) Davidson; nieces Camille (AJ) Wuthnow and Janel (Mike) Spelts; brother-in-law Bill Johnson; nephews Andrew (Kelli) Johnson and Shawn (Brittany) Johnson; brother in-law and sister in-law Kelly and Gale Nachtigal; as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
