Obituary

Robert Leon "Bob" Patterson, 82, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas.

Born on February 12, 1943, in Clarksville, Arkansas to Lee and Velma Patterson, Bob lived a life marked by dedication to his wife, service to his country, and a deep commitment to his faith. At just 17 years old, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. His early military service laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and integrity.

After completing his service, Bob worked in sales for a time before he began a long and successful career at Vulcan Chemicals, Over the course
of 32 years with the company, he became known for his reliability and strong work ethic before retiring in 2005.

Bob was an active member of Bethel Life Center for two decades. His involvement in the church provided him with a strong spiritual community
that he cherished deeply.

At home, Bob was a devoted husband to Penny for 56 years. They have one son, Chris (Nancy) of Wichita. He took great pride in his grandchildren- Kelsy of Sedan; Austin of Wichita; Logan (Isabel) Lukens of Wichita- and found joy in spending time with his great-grandchildren Lane and Thea of Sedan. He is also survived by his sister Eula Rasler of Wichita and many
nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ray Patterson, Fay Patterson, and Bill Patterson; his sisters Maxine Mott, Pauline Elliott and
Irma Thomas and his favorite furry companion, Muddy.

A true craftsman at heart, Bob loved to tinker around the house. He remodeled their home several times over the years with care and creativity.
Travel was another passion he shared with Penny-they especially enjoyed trips to Hawaii, a trip to Canada and a memorable road trip along the West Coast. In earlier years, Bob also enjoyed snow skiing trips to Colorado. Bob and Penny made many trips to Arkansas to visit areas from Bob's youth.

Bob's legacy is one of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A memorial has been established with Bethel Life Center Young at Heart.
