With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Rufina Lucero, who departed this world July 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her indomitable spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering positivity were a beacon of light to all who knew her.

Rufina was born on July 19, 1956 in a small town of San Jose de Ramos el Oro, Durango to her cherished parents, Isabel Diaz and Rita Avila. Reunited now with her beloved parents, Rufina leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have been touched by her life.

For 48 beautiful years, Rufina shared her life with her devoted husband, Mauricio Lucero, together, they crafted a life rich in love, laughter, and three beautiful children. The oldest, Brenda Lucero, middle son, Raul Lucero and spouse Maria Lucero-Gonzalez, and youngest Jenny Lucero. Rufina’s family was always her highest priority, and she was the heart and soul of every gathering, bringing joy and harmony to every occasion. Rufina’s journey was marked by dedication and perseverance. She spent 17 years at Hormel Dold foods where her exemplary work ethic and positive attitude were admired by her colleagues until she retired in 2019. Leaving behind a legacy of hard work and friends.

In her leisure time, Rufina was a woman of many passions. Her love for music was a constant presence in her life. Rufina cherished her time traveling, exploring new places and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, exploring new skin care and much more. Her family was the center of her universe, and she took immense pride in her seven grandchildren; Jesse Lucero, Jennifer Garcia, Arlene Garcia, Raul Lucero Jr, Gael Lucero, Allison Montes de Oca, Luis F Montes de Oca and three great-grandchildren Santiago, Allyanna & Aurelio Vizcarra who brought her endless joy and fulfillment.

Rufina's radiant smile and boundless energy left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Her legacy will endure in the laughter and love she spread. Rufina Lucero will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit lives in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.

May she rest in eternal peace, knowing the profound impact she made on the world around her.

Visitation will take place from 6pm-8pm on July 21, 2026 at Baker Funeral Home West, 3224 N Tyler Rd, Wichita, KS.

Rosary Service will be held at 10am immediately followed by the Funeral Mass on July 22, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2007 N Arkansas Ave, Wichita, KS.

Graveside service will follow directly after at Ascension Cemetery, 7200 E 45th St N, Bel Aire, KS.
