Obituary

Sara Louise Black age 96, passed away peacefully on November 6,2024 in Wichita, KS. She was born on January 26, 1928, to Mathew Dewite Davis and Nova May (Gillaspy) Davis in Verden, Oklahoma. She was raised in Bartlesville, OK and attended Bartlesville Grade School.

In the early 40's the family moved to Wichita, KS where Sara attended Wichita East High School graduating in 1945. After high school Sara began working at New York Life Insurance Company as a secretary. While attending church at Cleveland Ave. Church of Christ she met the love of her life Gale and in 1947 they were married in Wichita, KS. From this union came Pamela and Steven.

In 1979 Sara began teaching preschool at Asbury United Methodist Church for many years. She loved her grandchildren most, but she also loved playing bridge, putting together jigsaw puzzles and traveling with Gale across the United States. Gale and Sara traveled to every state in the Nation.

She is survived by her children; daughter, Pamela K. Black and son Steven (Kathryn)Black; grandchildren Jocelyn (Miguel) Baeza, Kelsea (Andrew) Hare and Gregory Black; great-grandchildren, Aly Baeza, Blair Baeza, Xavier Baeza, Brynlee Baeza, Hayden Hare, Shaylee Hare, Cody Hare and Hannah Hare.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gale Delbert Black; two brothers, Leo Davis and Oscar Davis and 2 sisters, Elizabeth McCraken and Alta McDonald.
