Obituary

Silas James Eichbauer died Wednesday, June 11, 2025 upon his return home from a summer vacation with his uncle and cousin. He was 16 years old.

Silas was born on January 9, 2009. He was Tara's first child, the one who changed her world. Growing up he was the sweetest boy, offering up his Monopoly money so his mom wouldn't have to spend hers, and he never turned away from an opportunity to pick flowers for her. Silas started building things with his dad very young and proved himself to be quite the carpenter. Always so intentional and thoughtful with gifts, Silas used his skills to often make heartfelt and meaningful presents for those he loved, like wood burned pictures, last name plaques, even building his grandma a record shelf.

Silas had a natural gift of making others laugh- especially himself.  His quick wit and sense of humor could light up any room. Silas's playful spirit and easy-going disposition were a source of comfort and happiness to those around him, and his presence brought a sense of levity to even the most difficult situations.

Silas was loved and admired by his seven siblings. When holding his brother for the first time, he lit up and said, "I can't wait to be a dad!" While he never got the opportunity to grow up and become a parent, his influence in his brothers' and sisters' lives will be evidence left of his loving and playful nature.

The last 10 days of Silas's life were filled with travel, adventure, and new experiences. He was with family who loved him until the very end.

Silas is survived by his parents, Matthew and Tara Pena; his grandma, Jackie Allred; his sisters Jessica, Elese, Everlee, Micah, and Anaiah; his brothers Evander and Benjamin; his aunt Jessica Eichbauer-Welsh and uncle Cole Welsh, aunt Candace Bell; aunt Jasmine Pena and uncle Fabian Pena, aunt Krystal Morales and Uncle Chris Morales. He leaves behind cousins who adored him and friends who never left his side. Silas was joined in death by his uncle Britton Eichbauer and Cousin Arlo Eichbauer.
