Sue Kynion Darling, 76, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at Brookdale East Wichita, her retirement community in Wichita, Kansas.

Sue was born on October 13, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, and was raised nearby. She had a deep love of learning that led her to attend Southwest Missouri University (now Missouri State University), where she earned her master's degree and nurtured her lifelong passion for education.

In 1988, Sue met the love of her life, Dick Darling, when she began working at Color Central. She knew right away that he was the one, calling her mother the next day to say, "I met the man I am going to marry." They were married later that year and spent nearly 37 wonderful years together.

A natural-born teacher, Sue dedicated her career to helping others learn and grow. She spent her final years in education with Wichita Public Schools, teaching special education at Truesdale Middle School. Her students and colleagues remember her for her warmth, dedication, and unwavering patience.

Sue found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dick Darling; her children, Claire Darling (married to Glenn Steven Jr.) and Kingston Darling (married to Kasey Darling); her cherished grandchildren, Avery Rene Steven and she was excitedly awaiting the arrival of Lena Sue Steven (children of Claire & Glenn), and Alexandria and Nick Darling (children of Kingston); and her great-grandson, Jace Peppie (son of Alexandria). She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Genevieve Kynion.

Sue loved reading, watching Jeopardy!, and spending time surrounded by those she loved. She lived a life filled with kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength.

In accordance with Sue's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. She will be cremated and laid to rest in Clever, Missouri, alongside her beloved parents.
