It is with great sadness we share that Teresa Jane Smith, age 60, passed away surrounded by family, on Saturday, August 30th, 2025.Teresa was born in Wichita, Ks. on May 19th, 1965.
She is alumni of West High School. As a teenager she enjoyed working for life uniforms and Peter Pan. After establishing a family, she built a career as an apartment leasing agent in the Wichita area. During her time in the leasing industry, she won many awards for excellence in sales management and customer service. She then transitioned back into the role of full-time homemaker. Her granddaughters soon came along and brought her so much joy, laughter, and love. Teresa's children often joked that when her granddaughters came into the world, then all of the rules they had to once follow went out the window and that's because she was the most fun and absolute best Grammy to her favorite 4 girls in the whole wide world. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, crafting, interior design, and she loved hosting birthday parties and gatherings. She always added special touches to gatherings that made people feel at home and loved.
Teresa married Jeffery L. Smith on January 15th, 1997 who preceded her in death on September 5th, 2023. Her beloved son, Tyler G. Breese, also preceded her in death. Also, parents, Frank & Maxine Hook, parents-in-love, Dean & Joan Smith, sister, Sherrill Thompson, brothers-in-love, Dorphus 'corky' Thompson & Gregory Smith. She is survived by her family; Tfiffany VanDerBom, Daniel VanDerBom, Lindsey Smith, Wesley Smith (Mary); granddaughters, Brooklyn, London, & Madison VanDerBom, and Harlow Smith. Her brothers are Rodney "Rod" (Carolyn) Hook, Frank "Buddy" (Lezli) Hook, Randy (Terri) Hook. Sister, Kandie Hook, along with a host of family and friends.
Please join us on Friday, September 12th, 2025. Gospel Assembly Church, 4230 N. Oliver St. Wichita, Ks. 67220. A viewing and visitation with family present will start at 10:00 A.M. Teresa's Memorial service will directly follow and promptly start at 11:00 A.M. Graveside interment will be held at Kechi Cemetery. Dinner will follow and be held in the church dining hall.
Flowers can be sent to Baker Funeral Home 3224 N. Tyler Rd. Wichita, Ks. 67205 starting on Wednesday, September 10th.
